Delegates must:
A One GWO certificate is mandatory in order to work in the wind turbine industry. This certificate is the GWO BSE (Basic Safety Training). It is mandatory to have this certification, for Technicians, Site Managers, HSE staff, and subcontractors. It is relevant for all people working on a site.
As well as a focus on safety and productivity, other benefits include the standardisation of entry-level training, global reach that retains local sourcing, and supply chain alignment of safety training activity across all contractors.
This is not currently a service Hexis provides. However, if you are looking to get a medical done in our local area, please try SH Occupational Health Limited or Optima Health, as they should be able to assist you.
GWO does not make any requirements with regards to medical assessment as this is down to the employer. However, we ask you to complete a Health Declaration when you start the course to ensure you are well enough to participate, and that any medical issues are taken into consideration by the trainers and the training is adapted accordingly if necessary.
Yes. If your GWO certificate has expired you are required to re-take the full course or module again.
Yes. All delegates must meet the minimum course requirements to pass. Courses comprise of both theoretical and practical content, to allow you to demonstrate an understanding of your learning. However, our dedicated and experienced instructors work with you to guide you through these elements in order to give you the best chances of success.
Yes! There is no GWO requirement that training must be carried out at the same training centre.
It is important you bring with you, where possible, the following items of Personal Protective Equipment:
We hold a limited amount of PPE onsite and therefore cannot guarantee we will have your sizes readily available. Most of the equipment required on our courses is provided, however all students should bring their own writing equipment (pens and paper).
Should you choose to bring your own working at height equipment, such as full body fall arrest harness, certificates will need to be reviewed and verified before being allowed to use.
Any student attending a Sea Survival course is required to bring their own swimming attire and towel. Flip flops or footwear is recommended for walking around the pool area.
A GWO certificate is valid for 2 years from the date of course completion.
The ECITB Core certificate does not expire.
The Working at Height Systems and Equipment, Service Lift and Compact & Davit Cranes certificates are valid for 3 years from the date of course completion.
As part of the price of a full day course, lunch is provided from our local caterer, Piece of Cake.
Please make us aware of any dietary requirements, allergies or intolerances at the time of booking where possible.
A list of nearby accommodation options will be provided with your joining instructions.
Half-day courses finish around 12:30pm.
Full-day courses finish around 4:30pm.
This can vary depending on delegate numbers on the day, so these times are a guide only.
Late arrivals of more than 15 minutes past the course start time will not be allowed to attend the course.
Failure to produce valid photographic ID (such as a Driving Licence or Passport) may result in you not being allowed to join the course.
Yes. Please use postcode NR32 2PJ. Parking is first come first served in the East Coast College car park and overflow car park.
The Energy Skills Centre is opposite the Sixth Form College.
Re-sit dates for anyone not passing the course, will be discussed individually with students should this be required.
Please note that for ECITB courses, re-sits must be done within 3 months of sitting the original exam, otherwise the course will need to be sat again.
When you complete your booking, we will send you our cancellation terms and conditions, which detail when you can cancel without charge, and the charges that come into effect closer to the start date of your course.
We understand sometimes cancellations and rescheduling courses are necessary and sometimes last minute, so please get in touch with us and we will try our best to reschedule your course where possible.
Following full attendance and successful completion of both the theory and practical exams, students will receive a pass. WINDA database records, for GWO courses, are updated within 10 working days from the end of the course/exam.
To be environmentally conscious, Hexis will not provide paper certificates. Digital Certificate can be generated, but will only be sent out at the client’s request, and will be sent to the email address provided at the time of booking.
No problem at all. All GWO certificates are uploaded to the online WINDA system and all ECITB certificates are uploaded to their online database. However if you want a digital copy, please get in touch and we will arrange to email one to you.
